Writing and worldbuilding

The promise that began a series

18 June 2026

My first eager audience was my three daughters. Their bedtime demands taught me the importance of memorable characters, consistent details and a story strong enough to survive close questioning the following night.

As the girls grew, their shared stories grew with them. Eventually, after the final page of The Lord of the Rings, we faced a serious family problem: there was no more story left to read.

I agreed to write them a fantasy trilogy.

It took longer than the following week, which may have been their original expectation. But that promise became the beginning of the Stones of the Azuri — a world shaped by music, danger and a friendship strong enough to carry two young people through the worst of it.

More on how that world came together in future posts. If you would like to know when the next book arrives, join the newsletter.
